McCain's attacks fuel dangerous hatred-Frank Schaeffer, Baltimore Sun
John McCain, you are no fool, and you understand the depths of hatred that surround the issue of race in this country. You also know that, post-9/11, to call someone a friend of a terrorist is a very serious matter. You also know we are a bitterly divided country on many other issues. You know that, sadly, in America, violence is always just a moment away. You know that there are plenty of crazy people out there.
Stop! Think! Your rallies are beginning to look, sound, feel and smell like lynch mobs.
John McCain, you're walking a perilous line. If you do not stand up for all that is good in America and declare that Senator Obama is a patriot, fit for office, and denounce your hate-filled supporters when they scream out "Terrorist" or "Kill him," history will hold you responsible for all that follows.

McCain is trying to calm the crowds.

Can you not find anything at all positive to say about Obama?
All you ever do is trash the opposition.
That doesn't represent well for your own supposed choice.
It's called venting. Last I checked, the name at the top said Twango. I post what I find to be interesting or relevant.
I think McCain will be worse than GW.
As for 'your own supposed choice'. Take the snark somewhere else. If I was posting all the positive stuff about Obama, you'd call me a kool-aid drinker who thinks Obama is 'the one'.
Disclaimer: two glasses of last night's leftover Irony chardonnay.
I gotta stand up here. pearl why do you so often feel that you have to constantly hold twango's feet to the fire on her very own blog every time she takes on the Republicans? She used to BE ONE!
And if you can't vent on your very own blog i don't know where one can vent.
Honestly, this is THE main reason i have been hesitant to start one. Not because of you pearl, personally taking me on, i mean folks in general. (I believe that you and I are good enough friends to get past politics and disagreements like this as we have in the past), but i'm not sure i can handle anyone who is not close to me always checking in on my blog to take issue with me about my personal rants and venting.
I believe venting is good for the heart and blood pressure. And lord, there is alot to vent about.
The stuff you read about the racheting up of the anger from McCain rallies is indeed alittle bit frightening. But i did read that McCain is trying to calm it down.
And here is what i thought. And this is only MY opinions (and i'm not saying this is the way it is), in my opinion it is a case of good cop/bad cop. Palin being the bad cop and McCain coming off looking good. Cause i have to admit when he responded the way he did to the crowd he sounded more like the old McCain.
IMO: to use a Bushism:
Strategery.
I didn't mean to offend you...either of you.
And I have intentionally refrained from commenting on the vast majority of your venting. I should have continued that practice on this one as well.
I'll just stick to food and fun blogs from here out.
Which this one used to be.
But it's yours to take in whatever direction you choose.
Vent on.
I'm very concerned about the mood of the crowds that both McCain and Palin have attracted.
And no matter what they say now to try and calm the rhetoric, it may be too late.
They've not only opened the Pandora's Box of Hate and Venom with their ads and their choice of words in gatherings, but even as they might chastise individuals in a crowd who spew hate-speech, their campaign people are publicly saying that they will continue to paint Obama as "dangerous" and "associating with terrorists" because it's the only way that they can win.
And this is supposedly the party of Christians, the party of morals, the party of values.
It's a very risky game to play.
Pearl, you didn't offend me really. I just told you how I felt. I absolutely adore you and always will.
